The California Highway Patrol responded to a call from Danville where a car jumped over the highway guardrail and ended up on the road below, according to a CHP officer.
Emergency crews and CHP went to the scene on northbound Interstate Highway 680 adjacent to El Pintado Road at approximately 1:40 a.m, reported CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano. The car had seemed to crash into the guardrail on Highway 680’s right side and then proceeded to roll over it, landing on to El Pintado Road.
There have been injuries, Caggiano said, but the extent of them has not been revealed.
Caggiano added that more than 50 feet of highway guardrail has been destroyed, and said that there is debris sprinkling the right lane of the highway where the accident occurred.
