Some big-rig accidents are caused by the inattentiveness or fatigue of the driver – some long-haul drivers have been known to fall asleep behind the wheel – causing a collision with another car. Or the truck may have been following another vehicle too closely and when that vehicle suddenly stops, the truck driver hits the brakes and causes the truck to jackknife. Cars in other lanes may not have time to avoid collision with the trailers, which are blocking all or most of the lanes.
